Better Funding

It doesn’t matter whether the topic is youth sports or professionals, sponsorships can have the same impact. With enough sponsors, it can mean giving the team (or league) the funding that it requires to become successful.

At the youth level, perhaps a sponsor pays for the uniforms or field time. At the professional level, things can get a lot more expensive but still, sponsorships ultimately have the same impact.

Improve the Fan Experience

On the professional level, having sponsors can also prove to be beneficial for the fans. Going to the stadium to take in a game is supposed to be an immersive experience. So, what better way to enjoy the game than with the proper accommodations?

A sponsor can offer contests, free handouts, prizes, and so much more. It is an extra way to get the fans into the game, whether they be casual or the more hardcore variety. It is an additional layer of entertainment that can make the game more fun.

Connecting the Community

Another important impact of sponsorship on sports teams is that it can be a way for businesses in the community to develop greater reach to their target audience. Those local businesses can advertise with the local sports team, raising their profile in the process.

On the flip side, the sport itself can benefit from these connections by reaching certain demographics. It is a chance to not only engage the current audience but potentially draw in a new sector of the audience that may not have had an interest in the product otherwise. Not to mention that the more sponsorship dollars available means more funds for improving the fan experience.

Youth sports can create a foundation for kids that they take with them throughout the various stages of their lives. It can create a sense of community, increase confidence, and ensure proper physical fitness as well.

As a parent, getting involved is something that many hope to do. But how can you get involved as a youth sports coach?

Take a Training Course

Even if you are familiar with the sport in question, or even played in your youth, there is always room for improvement. If you would like to get involved in coaching youth sports, the first step should be to get proper training.

Take a course or two to bring your knowledge up. What is crazy is that less than 10% of youth sports coaches actually have relevant training. Get an edge on the rest.

Check Out the Scene

The level of youth sports in the area can depend on where you live. For most areas, it involves the local schools. For others, there are local fields and rec centers that can also be accommodating for youth sports.

Ask around and find out what friends, parents, family, and neighbors are doing or where they may be aware of a potential youth sports coaching opportunity. It all starts by asking and taking the next steps to become a youth sports coach in your community.

All Experience Matters

The reality of the situation is that most youth coaches don’t begin as head coaches, and that is okay. Gaining experience as a youth sports coach is important and that experience can come from a variety of sources.

Sign on as an assistant coach in order to gain some experience within the coaching world. There are aspects of coaching youth sports that you may not have even considered and becoming an assistant is a great way to gain exposure before stepping up to take the head coaching job. But all of that experience adds up over time, so don’t turn it away.

How to Build an Artist’s Portfolio

Being an artist means creating works all the time. But those works should not be totally random, especially if you plan to follow that artistic path to something more professional.

That means creating a portfolio. While that is well and good in theory, you must first know how to create a portfolio.

What is an Art Portfolio?

Generally speaking, there are two reasons to need an art portfolio. The first is to get into an art school, the second is presenting those works for sale to potential clients. Either way, having a portfolio is of the utmost importance.

When Applying for School

In order to build the proper portfolio for getting into a great art school, it is important that you know the requirements of the portfolio first. There is no better way to build a portfolio than by knowing precisely what is being asked of that portfolio.

Far too many prospective students don’t listen to those requirements. They go with what they think makes for the best portfolio even if it isn’t in the guidelines. Check those guidelines to get a better idea of what is required.

Look at Other Examples

The surest way to find out what kind of portfolio you should have is by looking at other examples. Maybe a fellow student can help. Perhaps the instructor will demonstrate portfolios of past students as an example.

The idea is to get a visual representation of what the portfolio is supposed to be. With that visual connection, it can mean the difference between creating a decent portfolio and one that stands out.

Include a Recent Range of Works

A portfolio should not have works from more than a few years prior. The reason being is that artists change quite a bit over time, and those older works may not be representative of what an artist is currently doing.

With a recent portfolio, it demonstrates the range of artistic experiences and skill, any originality or creativity that an artist has to demonstrate.

Greatest Moments in Soccer History

“Hand of God”

Diego Maradona is a legend in the world of soccer and for good reason. One of them was his “hand of God” moment during the 1986 World Cup. Maradona’s impressive goal during that year’s World Cup helped Argentina secure its second World Cup, creating one of the most memorable moments in the history of soccer.

It would be one of many that Maradona would score. But the “Hand of God” goal is one that continues to live on for soccer fans, especially those from Argentina.

Sergio Aguero and Man City’s First Premier League Title

It is safe to say that this one lives on in the memories of Premier League fans. Manchester City had long lived under the thumb of rival Manchester United. But on the last day of the 2011-12 season, Aguero changed the course of history.

Propelling Man City to their first title, it would set off a changing of the guard. It helped bring the rivalry to a new level as well.

Liverpool’s Comeback

No matter the sport, there is going to be a famed comeback story somewhere in the mix. In this case, it is Liverpool’s historic comeback against Milan in the 2005 Champions League final. Down 3-0 at half, it seemed as though Liverpool was hopeless.

But that is what separates the good athletes from the great ones. Liverpool fought back, managing to capture the victory in the penalty shootout, thanks to the tremendous work of keeper Jerzy Dudek, who hadn’t been the biggest of producers in the lead up to the moment.

The Importance of Art Education

There is some misconception that art is as simple as grabbing a brush or a pencil and seeing where your imagination takes you. And while that is certainly part of the equation, there is a lot more to it.

Education is important when it comes to art. It has the potential to create more well-rounded artists who can draw on a number of techniques and inspirations to create unbelievable works.

Art Education for Children

When it comes to children, art education is vital. It isn’t so much about the “art” that they create, though it can certainly have an impact in that area. It is instead about building creative habits that they will apply in other areas of life.

Things like conceptualizing and generating artistic ideas, being able to perceive and analyze works, and being able to convey meaning based on presentation methods. These are things that can carry on throughout not only their educational career but the rest of their lives.

Introducing Different Techniques

While a natural creativity and imagination has to be there for artists to really grow, there is also the need for refinery and technique. Without art education, it is akin to having an untethered, wild horse. The potential is so much greater.

With a little bit of art education, it can introduce students to different techniques and art forms that they may not have otherwise been aware of. All of which can help to create a better rounded artist, one who can draw from many styles and backgrounds.

Making Connections

On a more cognitive level, there is something to be said about the ability of art education to allow students to engage with a variety of new concepts and to discover any connections between ideas.

There is also the social and emotional outlet that art can provide. Being able to tap into that emotional connection can deliver truly unique work while also providing a cathartic means of expressing emotions and feelings in a safe space like no other medium can provide.
